Your translations, in your database
Every translation is written to your own WordPress database and served from there. The Gloty service processes and retains submitted text for translation and reuse; your published pages do not depend on a remote translation service.
Pay to translate, not to serve
Weglot serves translations within an active plan's word and language limits, including a small free plan. Gloty's quota meters new translation only. Text you have already translated keeps serving on any plan, including none.
AI translation, no setup
Translation runs through OpenAI or Gemini. The service selects the configured engine for each batch, so there is nothing to configure on your site — and every plan, free included, has access to the same engines.
No queries at render time
Gloty compiles your translations into a cache file your server keeps in memory, so a warm page view serves them without a single database query — and never waits on a remote API. Translation itself happens in the background.

Built for slow hosting
Translations compile into a PHP file your server's OPcache holds in shared memory, so a warm page view reads them with no database query and almost no memory. That matters most on shared hosting with no object cache — exactly where a translation plugin usually hurts. If OPcache or the cache file is unavailable, Gloty falls back to the database and the page is still correct.

Gloty writes every translation into your own WordPress database. The services meter different things: Weglot bills for the words it holds, month after month, while Gloty's quota applies to new translation only — text you have already translated keeps serving on any plan, including none.
Gloty runs translation in the background and serves saved translations locally, without waiting on a remote API. A warm compiled cache avoids translation database queries; if that cache is unavailable, it falls back to the database. Performance still depends on your theme, plugins and hosting.

Yes. Go to Gloty → Translations, find the string, and edit it. Human edits are marked as such and machine re-sync will never silently overwrite a translation you have corrected.
New translation pauses when you use your allowance. Subscription allowances refill monthly; the trial and migration pack are one-time grants. A pack added to a monthly plan expires at its next reset. A pack on a non-renewing trial has no monthly reset. Everything already translated keeps serving normally, because it lives in your database rather than being fetched from us — so hitting the cap pauses new work rather than taking your translated pages offline. You can upgrade or buy another migration pack when you need more translation volume.
In your own WordPress database, as translated variants alongside your original content — your source content is never overwritten. Serving a translated page makes no external request at all. Text does leave your server when it is translated: it is sent to the Gloty service, which calls the translation engine and returns the result.
