Getting started
Install, run the audit, read the report. The whole measuring half is free and needs no licence.
1. Install and activate
Crawlune needs WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer. On an older PHP it deactivates itself and says so rather than leaving you with a broken site.
2. Run the first audit
The audit reads your published pages and scores each one for extractability. On a large site it runs in the background and reports progress rather than blocking the screen.
It reads your content and nothing else. No page is changed, nothing leaves your site, and no licence is involved.
3. Read the report
The visibility report gives you a site-wide picture: the median page score, how many pages are thin, how many have no liftable answer block, and how many cite nothing external.
Start with the components, not the number. The score exists to rank pages for attention. What tells you what to do is the breakdown — see The score.
4. The two things worth doing first
- Check your crawler controls. If your site blocks AI crawlers, nothing else here matters — the content cannot be read at all. See Crawler controls.
